Sermon notes
We received the ministry of our Apostle and he taught on the topic “The Grace of Giving”🔥
He began by explaining you can't be a complete believer without giving. (2 Corinthians 8:7)
Today's teaching reminded us that giving is more than a financial responsibility; it is a grace that every believer must learn and grow in.
We learned about Graded Absolutism: • God's moral commands are absolute, but they do not all carry identical moral weight. • Where genuine moral duties conflict, higher obligations must govern (1 Samuel 16:2–3, John 7:23–24, Matthew 12:7, Romans 13:8).
📍TWO MISTAKES PEOPLE MAKE REGARDING TITHING • Direct Equivalence. Taking everything written about tithing word for word without understanding the purpose behind it. • Direct Rejection. Completely dismissing every teaching about tithing because we are under grace.
Here are a few points to note📝 📍 When we think about tithing, we must understand its purpose (Numbers 18:20–21, Numbers 3:10). 📍 Ministry is labour, and those who labour in God's work should be honoured and supported (1 Corinthians 9:7, Luke 10:7). 📍 We are all generous; the difference is the context in which we express that generosity. 📍 We honour the Word of God above everything else. 📍 God doesn't require a gift before He can bless you. 📍 By principle, we don't give to be blessed; we give because we are already blessed. 📍 What measures generosity is not the amount but the heart behind the gift. 📍 Giving should be intentional and motivated by love, not fear or obligation.
When we understand that everything we have belongs to God, giving stops being an argument and becomes an act of worship.
