Sermon notes

We were blessed by the teaching of our Apostle, as we continued our series, Durable Riches and Righteousness, with a powerful teaching titled “The God Who Blesses: The Biblical Theology of Money.” 🔥

Drawing from Luke 24:27, Apostle began by showing us that our understanding of money must be shaped by the whole counsel of Scripture.

He helped us gain a clear understanding of the following:

📌 THERE ARE TWO ERRORS IN THE UNDERSTANDING OF MONEY IN THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH

1️⃣ Materialism disguised as spirituality (1 Timothy 6:5; Matthew 6:33)

2️⃣ Financial passivity disguised as spirituality

* There are some misconceptions about the Bible that we do not arrive at from reading the Bible alone, but from listening to the whispers of the seed of the devil.

* For example, the misconception that wealth is wrong can be debunked from the inception of the world, when God called all He had created good. (Genesis 2:12)

* Furthermore, in as much as God is for us to have wealth, there are things we shouldn’t touch and have to stay away from. (Genesis 2:9; Genesis 3:1)

📌 SCRIPTURES THAT REVEAL GOD’S PERSPECTIVE ON BLESSING AND PROVISION

(Genesis 12:2; Genesis 13:2; Exodus 3:7; Exodus 16:35; Leviticus 19:10; Deuteronomy 8:14–18; Psalm 37:37; Psalm 103:1–6; Proverbs 10:22)

📌 WHAT THE BLESSING OF GOD DOES NOT IMPLY

1️⃣ That challenging times will not come. (Genesis 26:14–15)

2️⃣ The blessing of God does not mean we won’t work hard.

3️⃣ The blessings of God also don’t eliminate the place of wisdom. (Genesis 48:15; 2 Samuel 6:11)

📌Apostle helped us understand that the people who are going to be secure in the blessing of God are those who consider themselves channels of God’s blessings.

God is our source, and we are stewards of all He has entrusted to us. (1 Kings 3:5–12; 2 Samuel 7:18–25)

May we trust Him as our source and faithfully steward His resources for His purposes. ❤️
