Summary

You cannot lick salt with a straight face, and metaphorically, this lets us see as believers that we cannot be neutral. We must not be ashamed of what we believe and standing for everything. (1 Peter 3:15)

Sermon notes

Points To Note 1. Sanctify: Give God his sacred space and don’t treat him as common. * Don’t joke with the knowledge of God’s word. * Your demeanor must show honor for God. * To sanctify is to make holy. 2. When God says “give a response”, there’s an extent to which that is counterproductive because we have a culture that does not value accountability, where people should respond. * You don’t claim to love people and leave them in their own belief systems. Test them, poke them, try them and invite them to a conversation.

Questions to ask them: 1. What is the evidence for what they believe as an alternative to Christ? * Why do they value people more than animals and how did they arrived at that? * Why do they * have an ethical system? 2. For every thing else they do even outside “religion”, do they have 100% proof of it being the right approach to take? Whether you like it or not, you make decisions every day in faith because you don’t have 100% assurance/control. ℹ️ If you are not careful, you will buy the assumption that you are inferior intellectually because you are a believer.

Why Can’t People Find God Through Other Means 1. Looking for Him in His creation. * If God created time and space, he will exist out of it. Don’t look for the creator in the creation. * What you will fond is the evidence of His work, not He himself. 2. Pain * Apologetics must be with compassion. * Never get angry and say some things in anger. 3. Bad Examples * The best of men are still men.

How Can We Help People Find God? It’s not wrong to help thinkers believe and to help believers think. (Acts 17:23, 28-29) 1. With logic, you can point people to the folly of their ways and convictions. 2. Even if you don’t see the maker but through the things he has done, you will know he exists. (Romans 1:20) 3. If you see patterns of order in creation, the brilliant conclusion is that behind every design is a designer.

Argument For Desire This asks the question, “what if every desire you have points to the existence of a creator”. 1. Every natural or innate desire has a corresponding object. 2. In every human civilization, there seems to be an insatiable desire for something divine. * Most religions are trying to fill in the blanks. (Acts 17:23) * The existence of other religions prove Christianity because they are all trying to look for something in different ways, even though they are ending at the wrong conclusion. (John 4:9, Ecclesiastes 3:11)
