Sermon notes
In our midweek service yesterday, Pastor Laju Iren taught on Love, Money, and Powerđ„
She laid the foundation by stating that true love delights in all things, but the love of money doesnât.
On LOVE and MONEY, here are a few things to note;
* Be rich in the things that count, like character (Proverbs 8:10-11, 1 Samuel 25:2).
* Marriage is a covenant, not a company (Ephesians 5:22). We must submit and love Godâs way.
* TOOT: Trust | Oneness | Open communication | Transparency are necessary for a peaceful marriage (Psalm 133:3).
* Cut your cloth according to your size (1 Timothy 6:6).
* Practice intentional generosity as a family.
* Learn to reject unhealthy competition in marriage and embrace oneness. A win for one is a win for all (Hebrews 10:24).
* Marriage is in seasons, so we must learn to love the same regardless of them.
On LOVE and POWER, we were taught that family is a powerful assignment and must be treated as such. Pastor Laju broke down the teaching into two; for men and for women.
Hereâs wisdom for menđđ»
* Find the right place to take off your armour; vulnerability is strength.
* â Money and power wonât fix insecurity.
* â Bad company corrupts good manners.
* â Vices can derail destiny, so there is wisdom in avoiding them entirely.
* Communicate grievances through firm leadership, not grudges.
* When a woman succeeds in your care, God is pleased. (1 Peter 3:7).
* Honour God.
Lessons for WomenđđŒ
* Be on the Lordâs side. (Esther 5:3, Mark 6:22, 2 Samuel 6:15-16).
* â Itâs not in your place to humble your husband. (2 Samuel 6:20).
* â Youâre not the head of your home. (1 Peter 3:3-4).
* â Success in life and marriage is possible. So work towards attaining that and don't shrink yourself.
* â Respect your husbandâs systems, work, and assignments.
* â Beware of false role models.
* â Being a helpmate is a powerful assignment. You matter.
As we step into the rest of the week, let's remember that love must remain our foundation, character our true wealth, and honour our posture. May we steward love, money, and power with wisdom, building homes and lives that reflect Godâs design and please Him.â€ïž
