Sermon notes
We were blessed by the teaching of our Apostle, as he taught powerfully on the topic: “Durable Riches and Righteousness.” 🔥 (2 Corinthians 9:6–10)
He began by sharing with us the two manifestations of righteousness in the Bible, namely: 📌 Righteousness as a gift. (Romans 5:17) 📌 Righteousness as a harvest.
He further stated that righteousness as a harvest is not a prerequisite for your relationship with God, but an expression and result of your relationship with Him.
HERE ARE A FEW THINGS TO NOTE FROM THE SERVICE:
📍 Righteousness begins as a seed, and that seed is a gift.
📍 There is the fruit of the Spirit, and to manifest it, you must walk in the Spirit and have evidences in your day-to-day life, like love, joy, peace, etc.
📍 The harvest of righteousness will influence expressions like prayer, devotion, fasting, character, moral uprightness and generosity.
📍 There is a kind of love that God reserves for doers and givers. (2Corinthians 9:7)
📍 The word righteousness in Hebrew is “Tzedakah,” which translates to justice, rightness and righteous conduct.
3 MANIFESTATIONS OF TZEDAKAH: * Personal Morality * Justice (Luke 10:31–32) * Charity: This is generosity towards the needy.
📍 The story of Cornelius in Acts 10:4 points to an example of the harvest of righteousness.
📍 Sowing sparingly was never about the amount of money sown, but about the willingness of your heart.
📍 The deceitfulness of riches makes you think you’re incapable of giving until you have more.
PRINCIPLES TO LIVE BY
* Preserve people’s dignity. (Deuteronomy 24:10–13)
* Do not act as a moneylender and charge interest to the money people owe you (Exodus 22:25)
* Give people the opportunity to redeem what they have lost. (Leviticus 25:25–34)
* Pay your workers promptly. (Deuteronomy 24:14–15)
* Don’t monetize the desperation of others. (Proverbs 22:22–23)
The miracle of the New Testament giving is that we give sacrificially and joyfully.
